FREE online advertising… yayah

By William Bryant at 4 February, 2008, 5:08 pm

Few things in life are free, and believe me that those things that are usually require some sort of work. Free online advertising is no different.

In today’s featured story I’m going to tell you about some of the free online advertising sources that you should be taking advantage of for your online inventory. Both of these I have personal experience with. And both of these I can tell you have as good of closing ratios as the guys you pay for. If you’re looking to push the envelope on what your advertising dollars are doing for your internet department, especially if you don’t have as large of a budget as the other guys (like us), then these sites will be essential to your online growth.

FREE Online Ad Sources

Craigslist.com This is a site most of you should already know about. If you don’t, they have other great stuff that you can find out about. Basically it’s a free classifieds site. And that also means free auto classifieds.

Now posting on Craigslist is a little daunting– there isn’t a one page form. And many of your inventory management tools don’t have built-in support for Craigslist. However, some do! Check with your provider. Because I’m independent and would like to keep from showing any preference of one vendor over another, I’ll leave it at that. I’m not sure who’s now adding Craigslist functionality.

But, either way, you can’t just automatically feed tons of cars at once. Adding vehicles to Craigslist requires the program mocking human interaction. That being said, you don’t need a 3rd party feed program, you can do it yourself!  Either way, with Craigslist.com being the #1 online ad site on the Internet, with the added bonus of it costing no more than the air you’re breathing now, you’re sure to get some leads that will end in a sale.

Web2carz.com is a site very similar to Autotrader or Cars, with the exception that there will be no rep to call on you, and no fee being charged to you. Alex at web2carz will help you out, though, and you’ll get leads too! I’m not all sure about how the site is advertising and getting the traffic they get (not as much as the bigger sites obviously), but it will bring customers in the door.

And if your goal is to grow your internet department, whether your budget is unlimited or almost non-existent, web2carz should definitely be part of your 3rd part portfolio.

Hopefully these sites will sell you more cars and bring you more growth! And remember, we’ll always be on the outlook for more free sites. If you know of more, please put them in the comments!
