eBay Second Chance Offers

There’s one powerful tool which I forgot to mention on my previous eBay HowTo, Internet Sales Tip: eBay — Closing and Delivering an eBay sale.

This one is very powerful. Second chance offers allow bidders to buy the item immediately at your reserve price, and you don’t get charged unless it sells. Maybe 10 people bid on a car you had, and someone took the buy-it-now. Only you realize two or three days later that this person’s ebay account was hacked, and payment will never come. Send a second chance! You had some serious bidders, let them take the bait immediately.

You get to choose the duration of how long the offer is valid. If they’re looking, they’re not going to wait around. That just gives them more time to decide not to do it. But if you only put it out there for a day, they may miss out! Three days is a good amount of time, create urgency.

If no one takes the second chance offer, you didn’t have to pay a relisting fee, and you can try and relist. But if you had serious bidders, having the opportunity to buy it at the reserve amount will be enticing!
